This stunning black silk furisode has designs created by the "yuzen" (paste-resist method of dyeing) technique. The cranes and some flower designs are highlighted with both satin stitch and Sagara embroidery (knot embroidery). The pattern continues inside the lower inner lining and the upper inner lining is red silk. This kimono as well as # 1464 were said to have been brought to the United States in the 1940's by a US Military Governor and diplomat who lived in Japan with his wife after WWII to assist with restoration.
