This haori showcases silkscreened sasa (bamboo grass) motifs against a rhythmic backdrop of tatewaku (wavy lines). The sasa designs contain the auspicious combination of shou-chiku-bai (pine, bamboo, and ume blossoms) alongside kiku (chrysanthemum) motifs. Additionally, it features some faux-shibori kanoko dot patterns.
The overall composition, with its flowing lines and stylized natural forms, echoes the organic, sinuous qualities favored in Art Nouveau design, while the bold contrast and geometric simplification of the motifs hint at the Art Deco aesthetic.
