A crimson red silk formal kimono (5 crests) for a young girl. It is made of a smooth satin silk, and decorated with a design of mandarin orange (tachibana), pine (matsu), and fans. The design was yuzen dyed with rice paste, leaving white reserved areas of plum blossoms against the red ground. The family crest is a moth in a circle (maru ni cho). Embroidered with silk and gold couched thread throughout. Also has some sprinkled gold leaf. Good condition. 41" x 41". This is the sort of special kimono worn for a girl's shichi-go-san (7-5-3) birthday celebration (possibly for 5 year old). Lined in red silk.
