This silk haori utilizes a dense, rhythmic arrangement of classical motifs. The garment is rendered on a deep slate-blue silk ground with a rinzu (damask) base, providing a shimmering, architectural field for the surface decoration.
The composition is defined by an all-over field of numerous tiny fans (sensu), meticulously silk-screened in a muted palette of sage-green, cream, and olive. These fans are shown in various states of being opened and closed, creating a sense of constant visual movement across the body and sleeves. The rinzu base fabric features its own tonal, woven damask patterns—including geometric frets and bamboo leaves—that catch the light and add a secondary layer of texture beneath the printed fans.
It measures 49 inches (124 cm) from sleeve-end to sleeve-end and stands at a height of 38 inches (97 cm).
