A soft rinzu (damask) silk kimono featuring stenciled bamboo motifs. There are a number of tiny white spots here and there throughout the kimono, which we assume are intentional. A small light stain. 49" from sleeve-end to sleeve-end x 61" height. Bamboo's endurance through the seasons has caused it to be associated with such virtues as constancy, integrity and honour, and is also a symbol of purity and nobility. The design and motifs on this kimono are traditional, although it does share the boldness with color and graphic qualities of some other fine Taisho-period kimono art.
